“Follow Your Dreams” is a well-known lifestyle and the basic principle for my art. Since 2020, I have been concentrating my enthusiasm for art and painting in my label NOLA ART.

Hello, I am Laura Norkus and I have started my own label in art and design with NOLA ART in 2020. The aim of NOLA ART is to give the viewer a sense of life, to carry messages and to change perspectives.

Be positive, laugh, live and love. Life is a gift that should be appreciated and accepted. Make peace with yourself and your environment. Feel the bliss within you, all of this affects your radiance, for you attract what you radiate. Feel the bliss within you, all this influences your charisma, because you attract what you radiate.

In great footsteps - from "Mudia Art" to "Nola Art

In 1983 I was born in Essen as the daughter of Franz Norkus, the founder and operator of "Mudia Art". At "Mudia Art“ art, lifestyle and event have been combined in a unique way. My father is a creative, crazy and absolutely imaginative personality and as his daughter, I can be thankful that the same creative blood is running through my veins.

My passion as well as my talent has always been in the artistic craft. I have always done work such as goldsmithing, coppersmithing, forging, sewing, carpentry, pottery, painting and drawing with full ambition and assiduousness. After I became a tailor I could hardly wait to study fashion design at the AMD in Düsseldorf. During this time I was able to develop my creativity and open my wings in all directions.

After my studies I worked for the international fashion company Hollister/ Abercrombie & Fitch. In 2015 my daughter Noemi was born. It soon became clear to me that a creative person has to be creative in order to keep their energies in balance. The drawing pens were swung - from family portraits to abstract oil paintings, everything was included. A passion / a love that had to be lived.

From Ibiza with love

I spent a lot of time on the Balearic island Ibiza as a child. Already in "Mudia Art" times my parents went there regularly. Besides Austria and Germany, the island has become their main residence. The contrast of the island with lifestyle, glamour and an impressive party life on the one hand and a unique peace, serenity and harmony on the other hand, has fascinated and impressed me since I was a child. The power of the island is magical. An absolute power place for my intuition, creativity and peace of mind. Several times a year I am drawn back to Ibiza because this island with its impressive energy simply always remains something very special for me, touches my heart and gives me the strength I need for a fulfilled life.

My training as a yoga teacher is also good for my creativity and for my whole attitude towards life. Yoga is a wonderful source of energy that brings balance into my life. But above all, with her loving lightness and vividness my daughter Noemi shows me how wonderful life can be everyday. Her honesty, her playful attitude and her unconditional love can also be found in NOLA ART.

A space between dream and reality

"Let yourself be enchanted, live your dreams and believe in your goals" - this is one of my favorite guiding principles. With my pictures and illustrations I want to create the space between dream and reality. A world full of peace, passion, beauty and value on the one hand and glamour, lifestyle and fashion on the other.

I work with photography, architecture as well as with quotes or statements of well-known personalities who fascinate me. With my artwork I want to bring love, bliss and peace to the world and I want to create a positive feeling on your way to an absolutely fulfilled life. In my current paintings I combine different techniques - from pencil sketches, acrylic/oil painting, copic illustrations ans my own photographs to digital drawings in Photoshop and Illustrator.

From 2021 on I will present my work at various art fairs and exhibitions.

Mindfulness is the key

NOLA ART is more than art. It is an awareness of life. An awareness of life that should give the impulse to look at one's own life from a different, liberating point of view. This attitude was and is life-changing for me and that is exactly what I want to communicate to the viewers of my art. Because life always comes up with challenging situations in which we feel small and have the feeling that the whole world is against us. The philosophy behind NOLA ART starts right here. It gives you strength and strengthens your self-confidence, at a point when everything feels like falling apart.

For me, mindfulness is the key. It makes our world a better place, because through mindfulness we take a loving and considerate attitude towards all human beings and towards ourselves. Because we live in a competitive society and want to be „the best“ from an early age, we compare ourselves with others and define ourselves based on performance and results. I think that both can exist and take place at the same time: working and relaxing, learning and having fun. This was exactly the main idea behind the foundation of NOLA ART. You have to learn to pursue your passion, to break with routines that bore you, to experiment and to simply do things differently. If we hold on to something that hurts or annoys us, we only waste the energy for everything that could make us happy. Bring fun into your day and become productive.
