How would you describe yourself? How do others see you?
This is always a difficult question (Laura smiles). But alright. I see myself as an imaginative, creative, open, funny and attentive person. At least, that is what I hear from my family and friends.
I have learned from my father that you have to believe in yourself. When he opened the Mudia Art, most people also said: "Franz, you are crazy. You'll never make it." But he never let himself be diverted from his path and that is what I learned from him. Believe in yourself and live your dreams. That's the same with me. Many people wonder about things I do or don't do. Whether it is my diet, my sports or simply my appearance. You do not have to please others, you have to please yourself to be happy. I simply do what is good for me and I don't let myself be put off by anything or anyone. I have had lows in my life where I thought I was different. Away from the mainstream. I have dealt with myself a lot and always noticed that I am on the right track.
Find your path and walk it in a fulfilled and attentive way. You don't have to be pressed into prefabricated patterns. You are you and I am me. Be grateful and make peace with yourself.
How did you come to art?
I would really say art is in my blood. I grew up in a creative - maybe even a little crazy - family.
I knew early that I wanted to do something creative. After I became a tailor I decided to study fashion design at the AMD in Düsseldorf. One of my favorite subjects was, among others, fashion drawing/illustration. Drawing, illustrating, painting in all imaginable techniques let grow a wonderful passion in me. More and more people were interested in my "hobby", so in 2020 I decided to start my own label NOLA ART out of my passion. With my label I want to communicate an awareness of life. My paintings are full of power and positive energy and are supposed to help every single person to find their inner peace of mind and to live fulfilled.
Could you describe that „awareness of life“, that you want to communicate, a little bit more detailed?
In psychology there is a competence called self-efficacy. This refers to the belief in being able to achieve something independently, i.e. without being dependent on the outside world, and the ability to solve difficult situations by yourself. I think self-efficacy is the key to a fulfilled and happy life. With my art I want to encourage people to step into exactly this feeling of life, to set out on the path to it. And that only works through mindfulness. We have to be mindful of everything that happens around us, but also of ourselves. We have to find out what our passions are in order to be able to pursue them, to try things out and thus get to know ourselves and the people around us better. We should stop holding on to what annoys and hurts us and instead focus our energy on what makes us happy. I wish to give people exactly that through my art, to awaken the self-confidence in them to follow the path of a fulfilled life. Every human being has to be mindful. Ask yourself what you need to lead a fulfilled life. I, for example, love the beauty of nature, I am an absolute horse girl and consider the connection between people and animals to be precious and incredibly valuable. I do yoga every day to bring my thoughts to rest in my mind. Everything I do, I do consciously. It is important to make someone happy and it is important to start with yourself.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
My awareness of life inspires me. I live a fulfilled life. My daily yoga practice gives me the energy to unfold what is inside me. I do things that bring me inner peace, make me happy and keep my heart wonderfully warm in a very special way. This supports my creativity.
The childlike lightness of my daughter Noemi also inspires me a lot. Many people think that a life with children means limitation. For me it is the complete opposite. Noemi frees my thoughts and motivates me every day with her playful way of looking at things, to recognize and live the freedom of life.
